ABB brand helps win major order
Beijing, China, January 10, 2006 - ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, said today that it has won contracts totaling around RMB 100 million from Shanghai Waigaoqiao Power Plant. ABB Chongqing Transformer Co. Ltd. will supply power transformers for the power plant’s third phase project of 2*1000MW coal-fired generating unit in Shanghai.
“It’s another significant milestone for ABB Chongqing Transformer Co. Ltd.,” said Bernd Muehe, head of Power Products division for ABB in North Asia. “The successful operation of the project will secure sufficient and reliable power supply for the speedy economic development in Shanghai.”
Under the terms of the contract, ABB Chongqing Transformer Co. Ltd. will supply 6 units of 380MVA/500kV Generator Step Up power transformers for Shanghai Waigaoqiao 1000MW Power Plant III. The ABB product has the highest rating for this kind of transformer in China, which requires more complex design. This type of transformer will be more and more common in Chinese market. ABB is one of the few suppliers of this transformer in the booming market.
