ABB launches new miniature circuit breaker in China

Beijing, China, September 6, 2003 - ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, today launched the new S260 series miniature circuit breaker in China, marking the 80th anniversary of company's invention of the miniature circuit breaker.

"ABB invented the world's first miniature circuit breaker 80 years ago and is now one of the world's leading suppliers," said Veli-Matti Reinikkala, senior vice president and head of automation technologies division of ABB China. "The launch of our latest S260 series in China shows our strong commitment to share our cutting-edge technology, expertise and more than 100 years of industrial and commercial experience with partners in China."

Miniature circuit breakers prevent overheating of the electrical wires, cables and appliances and protect in case of insulation faults in building installations.

Based on technology transferred from ABB in Germany, the S260 series has a modular design that enables users safer and more user-friendly operation. The series has received China Compulsory Certification (CCC) accreditation.

The S260 series will be manufactured at ABB Beijing Low Voltage Equipment Installation Co. Ltd, a joint venture established in 1994 to specialize in low- voltage equipment manufacturing and engineering.

ABB offers a full range of miniature circuit breakers with breaking capacity ranging from 3KA to 50 KA, and current rating from 0.5A to 125A. Today, ABB has more than ten miniature circuit breaker manufacturing sites in the world, making it a world leader in the industry. All ABB low voltage power distribution products are compatible with international installation standards.
