ABB Company produced the 20,000th medium voltage switchgear

Xiamen, China, May 15, 2003 – ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, announced today that the 20,000th Unigear, type ZS1 medium voltage switchgear rolled-out from the production line at ABB Xiamen Switchgear Co. Ltd., marking another milestone for the company. This symbolized panel together with 56 units was ordered by SINOPEC Beijing Yanshan Branch for use in water treatment substation of No. 1 Chemical Plant. Celebrating this remarkable achievement, ABB Xiamen Switchgear Co. Ltd. offered free maintenance for this switchgear panel throughout its entire life span.

"In June 2000, we celebrated the rolled-out of our first 10,000th Unigear switchgear, which took us almost 8 years to reach the goal,■said Peter Leupp, Chairman and President of ABB (China) Ltd. "however, it took the company less than 3 years to achieve the second 10,000 units. It would not have been possible without superior quality and service, the confidence and trust of our customers, and the full dedication of our employees."

Coincidently, SINOPEC Beijing Yanshan Branch is also the first customer of ABB Xiamen Switchgear Co. Ltd. since its establishment in 1992. SINOPEC Beijing Yanshan Branch ordered 24 units of ZS1 medium voltage switchgears for the polypropylene project at its No. 2 Chemical Plant. In 2000, another switchgear order was awarded for the polyethylene project at its No. 1 Chemical Plant.
