Beijing, China, November 19, 2002 – ABB, the leading power and automation technology company, announced today that ABB Xiamen Switchgear Co. Ltd. is awarded the China National Quality Management Award during the 8th Asia Pacific Organization Conference that took place in Beijing. This is the first time in the history of the China National Quality Management Award that the honor is granted to a medium sized enterprise.

The China National Quality Management Award is the highest level to honor and to recognize performance in quality and management. Granted by the China Association for Quality, the award is based on five operational aspects that include leadership, business strategy, resource management, process management, information and business results. As from this year onward, the award will be granted yearly to five large enterprises and one small-and-medium size company in China.
