ABB attends China National Automation Summit and IAC Exhibition
Shanghai, China, June 29, 2005 - ABB, the leading power and automation technology company, today launched a full range of AC drives which help customers save energy especially in pump and fan applications, while slashing harmful CO2 emissions.
"As the central government recently indicated, in addition to securing more reliable power supply, there is a great deal we can and should do to use energy in a more efficient way," commented by Anders Jonsson, senior vice president and head of ABB's Automation Technologies business in China in front of 1000 audiences from automation industry during the National Automation Summit. "Energy efficient products are an ABB strength - from the high-voltage direct current links running power from the Three Gorges to cities like Shanghai, to motors and drives, and the control systems ABB offers to optimize industrial production. "These technologies, developed by ABB over more than 100 years, will help us make good on Premier Wen Jiabao's five major focus areas, from the enforcement of energy saving measures to the creation of new power capacity."
According to ABB, ABB's AC drives have saved 10,000 GWh of energy for customers in China in the last ten years - equivalent to two years' power output from a nuclear power plant.
"We choose China as the first stop worldwide to launch the new product ACS510," said Tauno Heinola, General Manager of ABB Drive System Co., Ltd., "because China is a strategically important and fast growing market. By launching the new model, we are confident to maintain our market leader position."
The new AC drive series called ACS510 has been optimised for speed control of pumps and fans. It is of robust industrial design, contains energy optimiser to reduce motor losses and noise with partial loads, can be used to control the speed of up to 7 parallel pumps, and is environmentally friendly due to low harmonics, low EMC emissions and low motor noise. The new ACS510 product series completes ABB's drives product portfolio which in addition includes ACS550 standard drives, ACS800 industrial drives, micro drives, medium voltage and DC drives.
