ABB to supply switchgear to Tianjin Metro Line I

November 26, 2003, Tianjin, China – ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, said today that ABB Xiamen Switchgear Co. Ltd. is awarded a contract by Tianjin Metro Corporation to supply 10 kV UniGear type ZS1 switchgear to Tianjin Metro Line 1 project., with value around US$ 3.3 million.

Under the terms of contract, all products will be delivered in phases between June to December 2004 respectively.

The air-insulated UniGear type ZS1 switchgear is featured with compact design and prolonged product life span. The product is recently awarded with Chinese type II Ecolabelling certificate for its superior environmental friendly performance.

As a major supplier of electrical power technology products for mass transit project in China, ABB's previous orders included low voltage switchgear for Shenzhen Metro line 1; low and medium voltage switchgear for the first light rail line in Beijing and Tianjin; and 33 kV gas-insulated switchgear for Guangzhou Metro line 2 and Xin-Min line of Shanghai Metro Company.

The 26 km Tianjin Metro Line 1 is a key state project scheduled for completion before the end of 2005.
