2004-03-15 - Power supply will be strengthened in eastern China
Zurich, Switzerland, March 15, 2004 - ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, said today it has won a contract worth $22 million from a GE-led consortium to deliver power station equipment which will strengthen the supply of electricity in part of eastern China.
The equipment will be installed at the 4x250 MW Yixing pumped storage power station in Jiangsu province.
"ABB has considerable experience in the power systems business and knowledge of China, both of which have helped us to meet the customer's requirements for technically advanced and complex power systems and products, " said Peter Smits, head of ABB's Power Technologies division.
Upon completion in 2007, the power plant will strengthen power supply in an area which suffers from severe power shortages due to growing demand. Work on the project will start immediately.
The project involves design work, manufacturing, testing, site management and commissioning of equipment. ABB will deliver control, protection and excitation systems, static frequency converters, generator circuit breakers, station service systems and cabling.
