Xi'an facilities will benefit customers in western region
Xi'an, China, October 22, 2004 - ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, today opened new facilities in Xian to better serve its customers in Western China.
“This strategic move is the direct result of rapid business growth in Xi'an and Northwestern China," said Peter Leupp, Chairman and President of ABB in China.”The relocation of ABB’s Xia'n office and the new logistics center to a high technology zone put us in an even better position to aid the Chinese government’s plan of western development."
Located on Kangning Road on the southeast outskirts of Xi'an, ABB’s new logistics center takes sole responsibility for the distribution of ABB’s low voltage products to customers in the Northwestern region, as well as to customers in seven other contiguous provinces. The modern facility, with a total area of 1,092 square meters, will serve customers in a more timely and efficient way.
Since its operation in 1998, ABB’s Xi'an operation has seen its business go beyond Northwestern China into Henan, Hubei and Shanxi provinces. It deals with customers from petroleum, chemicals, metallurgy, power, construction and coal industries, as well as the education sector and municipal administrations. Its strong presence in the region is conducive to the region’s drive for great economic development by satisfying the region’s growing needs for power supply and industry automation.
“ABB has always been committed to delivering world-class products and services to utility and industry customers in China,”said Leupp. “We are confident that the expansion of our operation in Xi'an will help us in our efforts to support the economic progress in the region.”
As a hub of communications in western China, Xi'an is one of the nation’s most important bases of research and higher education, and is home to many high-tech industries. It enjoys an abundance of natural resources – particularly reserves of natural gas, oil and coal. With the implementation of the government’s ambitious strategy, Xi'an is expected to play a leading role in the development of the western region.
