ABB retains top ranking in "2007 China Top 100 Electric Companies"

11 ABB local companies appear in the list

Beijing, September 15, 2007 - ABB, the leading power and automation technology group announced today that 11 local companies have been ranked as 2007 China Top 100 Electric companies. It is the fourth consecutive year that ABB retained the No.1 position in the list in terms of company's number. In the previous three years, ABB had six, eight and ten of its local companies appeared in the list respectively.

The ranking was conducted by China's influential industry magazine Electric Age, based on 2006 revenue figures recorded by the China's official statistics organization.

"ABB has kept expanding and optimizing its existing facilities in China, to keep them stay in leading positions in both technological innovation and operational excellence. And the localization strategy has already showed the positive result." said Brice Koch, chairman and president of ABB China.

Most of ABB's 25 local companies are joint venture with China partners, most of which have been expanded and optimized in recent three years. Some of them have already been expanded several times. Koch noted, "Being the number one market for ABB, we will keep expanding our local facilities in China, bringing in more technologies and speeding up local innovations. ABB has been working with China for 100 years since 1907, and we are confident to keep growing in the future, providing best products and services to our customers."

ABB Xiamen Low Voltage Equipment Co., Ltd.
ABB Hefei Transformer Co., Ltd.
ABB Zhongshan Transformers Co., Ltd.
Shanghai ABB Motors Co., Ltd.
ABB Xinhui Low Voltage Switchgear Co., Ltd.
ABB Shanghai Transformer Co., Ltd.

It is the first time that ABB Shanghai Transformer Co., Ltd appeared in the list. Other companies such as ABB Xiamen Switchgear Co., Ltd, ABB High Voltage Switchgear Co., Ltd. Beijing, ABB Xiamen LV Equipment Co., Ltd. and ABB Chongqing Transformer Co., Ltd have already won the prize for several times.

As for the three single awards, ABB High Voltage Switchgear Co. Ltd. Beijing won the award for Strength, ABB Xiamen Low Voltage Equipment Co. Ltd., won the award for Innovation, and ABB Beijing Drive Systems Co. Ltd. won the award for Growth.
