Help Chinese clients enhance energy efficiency & secure grid reliability
Beijing, China, Aug 8, 2006 - ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, announced today the China Standard Certification Center (CSC) has awarded ABB Distribution Transformer (Hefei) Limited (CNDIS) the Certificate for Energy Conservation Product for its S11 distribution transformer. The energy efficient distribution transformers will help clients decrease power losses during transmission and distribution, improve energy efficiency and ensure grid reliability.
CNDIS submitted its application for the Certificate for Energy Conservation Product for its S(B)11-M-30/10~500/10 distribution transformer in mid May, 2006. During one and a half month certification period, CSC conducted thorough examination of the company's qualification and control process as well as series of strict product tests. The technical audit covered material, design, production, testing and quality control. CNDIS finally attained the certificate because of its excellent quality management system, full control process and high product performance.
"We are pleased and proud to get the certificate," said Bernd Muehe, head of power products division for ABB in China and ABB North Asia. "ABB has been commitment to providing energy-efficient power products to help Chinese customers to improve their performance while lowering environmental impact. ABB will get further involved in energy conservation certification activities as we believe the certification will contribute to the healthy and sustainable development of China's transformer industry."
Statistics indicate that power losses during transmission and distribution account for at least 10% of the total power generated in China. It is of great significance to improve energy efficiency of distribution transformer that consumes major part of energy in the field. With its wide application and long life span distribution transformer (blow 10kV) has great energy saving potential.
To achieve the goal of reducing energy consumption by 20% set by China's 11th Five-year Plan, National Development and Reform Commission has been greatly promoting compulsive energy conservation standards and impelling the implementation of energy-saving products certification and energy efficiency labeling management systems. The national standard on energy efficiency and energy Conservation for distribution transformers has been approved by Standardization Administration of China and became effective as of July 1, 2006. Distribution transformer manufacturers that fail to implement the standard will be washed out of market.
